New Jersey is Celebrating it's 345th Birthday and You're Invited to
the Party!

Governor Jon Corzine, Secretary of State Nina
Mitchell Wells, and Commissioner of Education Lucille Davy are
sponsoring this informative, free public celebration for all New
Jerseyans -- children, parents, teachers, and anybody with a love of
our state.

Outstanding students and teachers will be
saluted for their achievements in the field of history
-
Examples of student history video
documentaries and projects will be shown
-
Two priceless historical documents will be
on display: The actual June 24, 1664 royal grant that
established New Jersey and a rare, original copy of the
Declaration of Independence printed July 4, 1776. (The
Declaration is currently on a national tour made possible by the
National Student/Parent Mock Election, the Pearson Foundation,
and the non-profit youth voter registration organization Declare
Yourself. The Declaration of Independence original copy is owned
by Norman Lear, founder of Declare Yourself, and the
national tour is being underwritten by the
Pearson Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the education and
technology company Pearson.)

Special tours will be offered of the State
Museum, the State House, the State Archives, and the World War
II memorial.

The fife and drum corps of the Old Barracks
will perform

Guests will be treated to a 345th birthday
