Profile

Anthony “Tony” DePrince began his tenure on the Borough Council in 1999 and is currently serving as the town’s Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management Coordinator. As a lifelong resident of Magnolia, Tony is very proud to be serving his fellow residents in the town where he grew up and is raising his own children.

After graduating from Sterling High School in 1991, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies and Political Science from York College of Pennsylvania. Tony is currently working on completing his Master of Science Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology with a focus on occupational safety.  In addition to being a Board-Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), he holds numerous certifications and credentials from OSHA, FEMA, NJ State Police, and other related emergency management and public safety agencies. After working for over 27 years in public education, serving in various district-level capacities, he is currently working in the field of Occupational Safety and Health as the Director of Safety Training and Promotion for a large public transit agency.

In addition to his community service in Magnolia, Tony is an active volunteer with the USO (United Services Organization) center at the Philadelphia International Airport, where he supports members and families of the US Armed Services through various programs. You can find him every Tuesday evening at the USO, supporting US Coast Guard recruits who muster at the airport and preparing them for their transition and travel to Cape May to begin basic training.

His efforts on the council for over 25 years have been focused on supporting our local Police, Ambulance, and Fire First Responders. Tony is very proud to be able to work with such a dedicated group of career and volunteer public safety leaders and professionals who contribute to the well-being of our community and its residents both effectively and efficiently. For his ongoing contribution and support to the innovative delivery of Emergency Medical Services to both the Borough of Magnolia and our partner towns, the Magnolia Ambulance Corps awarded and acknowledged Tony as an “Honorary Member” in 2025. He takes his role as the town’s Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator very seriously, as he currently serves as Vice President of the Camden County Emergency Management Association and has volunteered at the county and state level to support major events.

Despite his busy professional schedule and his active community service, he has found the most rewarding part of his life to be serving as the proud father of his son, Anthony, and daughter, Madeline. His children are both active members of the Magnolia Ambulance Corps, serving as volunteers and career contributors, and each earned their national and state EMT certifications while still in high school.

Tony loves world travel and is a lifelong, self-proclaimed science fiction (a huge ‘trekkie’), theatre, history, and movie geek, watching as much Star Trek as possible and attending as much live theatre as possible. However, Tony is happiest spending time with his family, especially his children, Anthony and Maddie, and traveling the world with them.
