Vital Statistics

The Borough Clerk serves as the registrar of vital statistics.  The Clerk's Office processes requests for certified copies of vital records of events that occurred in the Borough.  The following events are filed with the Borough Clerk:

  • Birth Certificates
  • Marriage Licenses (appointment required)
  • Death Certificates

 Certified copies can be requested through the Clerk's Office.  Certified copies of marriage, birth and death certificates will only be released to persons of legal age who are: 

  • Subject of the Form
  • Parent of Subject
  • Legal Guardian of Subject
  • Spouse of Subject
  • Child of Subject
  • Grandchild of Subject
  • Sibling of Subject 

 Certified copies can also be requested by: 

  • Court Order
  • Government Agency for Official Purposes/Emergency Circumstance

Requester's must show photo identification; if the photo identification is deemed not sufficient--or you do not have a photo identification, you will need two proofs of identification.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING INTO A MARRIAGE:

  1. The marriage license application is to be made in the New Jersey municipality in which either party resides, and the license is valid throughout the State of New Jersey.
  2. If neither applicant is a New Jersey resident, submit the application in the municipality where the marriage ceremony will be performed; the license is only valid in the issuing municipality.
  3. Proof of identity by presenting your current driver’s license, passport, or state/federal I.D.
  4. Proof of your residency.
  5. Your social security number. (Social security number is required by law for US citizens and will be kept confidential)
  6. A witness of 18 years of age or older.
  7. The $28 application fee.  (Cash, check or money order only.)
  8. Any documents in a foreign language must be accompanied by a certified English translation.

After you apply:
There is a 72-hour waiting period before the license can be issued. The waiting period begins when the application is filed with the Local Registrar. There is no 72-hour waiting period for a remarriage; however, you must bring a certified copy of your existing marriage.

CERTIFIED COPIES OF YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE OR CIVIL UNION LICENSE ARE AVAILABLE IN THE TOWN WHERE THE CEREMONY WAS PERFORMED
If the ceremony took place in Magnolia Borough, you can obtain a copy by mail or in person:

IN PERSON: Registrar’s office hours are Monday thru Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm.
If the ceremony did not take place in Magnolia Borough, contact the Registrar in the Municipality where the ceremony was performed for the certified copies.

If the person was born or died in Magnolia, the Registrar will be able to prepare a certified copy of the certificate.
