Many have asked how they may view the artifacts contained in the 1976 Bicentennial Time Capsule. The borough is committed to providing digital access to all items in the capsule.
Many of the items were letters, photos, and other interesting mementos from the Magnolia residents and organizations from 1976. To ensure proper handling and preservation of the items, we will carefully scan and photograph all artifacts. As we complete this process in batches, we will post on the Borough Website and share links on social media for all to view.
The Magnolia 1976 Bicentennial Committee provided very precise directions regarding the time capsule, including returning all contents to it, resealing the capsule, and restoring it to its location in the floor of the Municipal Building. The directions also indicated, as well as inscribed on the dedication plaque, that it is to be reopened in another 50 years, in 2076, for America's 300th Birthday. With that in mind, the borough is gathering items, letters, etc., to represent our community in 2026 for a time capsule to be opened in 2076. Stay tuned for more information about that initiative in the near future.
Thank you for your patience as we carefully archive and share all of the contents of the time capsule for all to enjoy.
